Victron AGM Super Cycle Battery – A Truly Innovative Battery

The Victron Energy AGM Super Cycle Battery represent a breakthrough in battery electrochemistry. These advancements enhance performance, durability, and overall reliability.

The positive plate paste is now more resistant to softening, even after repeated 100% discharges. Additionally, new electrolyte additives help reduce sulfation, further improving deep discharge resilience.

Exceptional 100% Depth of Discharge (DoD) Performance

Tests by Victron Energy confirm that the Victron Super Cycle Battery can endure at least 300 cycles at 100% DoD. This ensures reliable performance in demanding applications.

Each test cycle involves a full discharge to 10.8V at I = 0.2C20, followed by a two-hour rest in a discharged state. Afterward, the battery is recharged with I = 0.2C20.

For most Other makes of Batteries, the two-hour rest in a discharged condition would cause damage within 100 cycles. However, the Victron Super Cycle Battery withstands this stress, maintaining its integrity and longevity.

Victron recommend using the Super Cycle Battery in applications where occasional 100% DoD or frequent 60-80% DoD discharges occur. Its enhanced chemistry ensures it remains reliable under these conditions.

Smaller and Lighter

One of the key benefits of the improved chemistry is a reduction in size and weight. Compared to our standard deep-cycle AGM batteries, the Super Cycle battery offers a more compact and lightweight solution.

Low Internal Resistance

Another advantage of this advanced design is its lower internal resistance. This feature enhances efficiency and improves overall battery performance compared to our standard deep-cycle AGM batteries.

The Benefits of a Victron AGM Battery

For users seeking maintenance-free energy storage, the Victron AGM Battery is a top choice. It delivers excellent deep-cycle performance, making it perfect for solar and backup applications. With a Victron Energy AGM Battery, you get high energy efficiency and low self-discharge.

This makes it ideal for long-term use in boats, camper vans, motorhomes and all levels of off-grid systems.

Why Victron Batteries Lead the Industry

The Victron AGM Battery range has an extremely low internal resistance, making it ideal for high-current applications. This includes inverters, thrusters, and winches, where consistent power is essential.

Long Battery Life

VRLA AGM: Design Life 7-10 Years

Victron Energy AGM Battery Features – VRLA Technology

VRLA stands for Valve Regulated Lead Acid, meaning these batteries are completely sealed. Gas is only released through safety valves in cases of overcharging or cell failure.

Because the Victron Energy Battery AGM Battery range are sealed a VRLA batteries require no maintenance throughout their lifespan. This makes them a convenient and reliable energy solution for various applications.

Sealed AGM Batteries

AGM stands for Absorbent Glass Mat. These batteries use a glass-fibre mat to absorb the electrolyte through capillary action. As detailed in the Victron book Energy Unlimited, AGM batteries are better suited than gel batteries for delivering short bursts of high current.

Low Self-Discharge

Thanks to lead calcium grids and high-purity materials, Victron VRLA batteries can be stored for extended periods without needing a recharge. Their self-discharge rate is below 2% per month at 20°C.

However, as temperature increases, self-discharge accelerates. For every 10°C rise, the rate doubles. If kept in cool conditions, these batteries can remain in storage for up to a year without recharging.

Exceptional Deep Discharge Recovery

Victron VRLA batteries offer outstanding recovery, even after deep or extended discharge. This makes them a dependable option for demanding applications.

However, repeatedly subjecting any lead-acid battery to deep and prolonged discharges will shorten its lifespan. Victron batteries are no exception, so proper usage and maintenance are crucial.

Victron Battery Discharging Characteristics

Therfore the rated capacity of Victron AGM and Gel Deep Cycle batteries is based on a 20-hour discharge. This equates to a discharge current of 0.05C.

As well Victron Tubular Plate Long Life batteries, the rated capacity is measured over a 10-hour discharge. As discharge current increases, the effective capacity decreases

Finally It’s also important to note that under constant power loads, such as an inverter, capacity reduction occurs even more rapidly. Understanding these characteristics ensures optimal battery performance and longevit
